SMASH*ing Thursday & Happy New Year!

Everything that I did was specially made with you in mind!

Your comments... your encouraging words... the new friendships...

it's all part of me now... and I'm truly thankful for that! :-)

I also hope that the 2012 brings many wonderful things to you and to your family!

There'll also be a few changes around here...

which I hope you'll welcome with the same enthusiasm you welcomed everything I did for the past year ;-)

SMASH-ing Thursday

Hi everyone,

I hope that you're all doing fine! :-)

I've been real busy these days with the Holidays... running last minute errands, buying gifts, prepping my home for Christmas Day, etc. And now that I have a down time, I could finally upload my post for Smash-ing Thursday. Hey, better late than never right? LOL

So if you remember in my last Smash-ing Thursday post, I wrote a list of things/themes that you could use in your Smash Book. Well, I'll try to follow through it and do my pages according to the list... so after the cover, the next thing in the list was *Goals*, so here's my page for *Goals*:

("Goals" in Spanish is "Metas".)

On the left page, I used rubons, chipboard letters and embellishments from K&Co., and drew the arrow in patterned paper and adhered it to my page. I also did a little doodling and stamping to decorate.

Then on the right page is where I did my list...

Just used papers, hand lettering, doodling, chipboard shapes, stamps, etc. You get the idea ;-)

If I make it through next week, I'll post the last Smash-ing Thursday post of the year next Thursday ;-)

Hi everyone,

It's Thursday... and that means it's *Smash-ing Thursday*!!

Instead of a page, I wanted to share with you the cover of one of my Smash Books...

(lousy picture I know!)

It's OK to decorate them... specially if you don't like the original cover.

Like me, for example, I bought the red Smash, but didn't like much the cover...

so I covered it with patterned paper and chipboard letters (which I colored with Acrylic Paints). It's simple, but it works for me ;-)

Now, I've been asked "what can I 'smash' in my Smash Book?"

Well, after brainstorming for a while... and gathering ideas from "here and there", I compiled a few ideas that I hope you find useful:

It's an "Odd" Birthday

Smash-ing Thursday

Hi everyone,

It's *Thursday*... and it means that it's time for another *Smash-ing* post ;-)

Sorry for not posting anything last Thursday, but I completely forgot that it was *Thanksgiving Day*... duuuhhhh!!! So my bad! :-(

Anyhow, here are a few pages that I worked on recently. They're all about *books* and *quotes*.

As many of you know, I'm a *bookworm* :-) I like to read about anything, but mostly about *Fantasy* and *Paranormal Romance* ;-) So I thought that it would be cool to add a couple of my favorite quotes from some of my favorite books in my Smash journal.

Yeap... *I'm officially a dork*!! LOL!

I like "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"... and I never thought that I would like it so much ;-) I bought these books for my youngest son... and this day he leaves one of them on the kitchen counter. And while I was cooking, I saw it and started to flip the pages. The drawings were so neat and it looked like an easy read, so I started reading it and before I knew it, *I was hooked*! So yes, I had to dedicate a few pages to this *cool kid* ;-)

A few of my favorite quotes from this book...

To decorate these pages, I added acrylic paint to the background... did the dripping technique and added more water for a wash-out effect. I also distressed the edges with Walnut Stain. It turned out darker of what I expected, but oh well... with mixed media you never know :-s

Now, I did a second spread, which I will share with you, but...

Warning: Some of these quotes are *R* rated... and even though I erased a few lines for blogging purposes... still if you think you'll be easily offended, please do not read them!!

Like I said, these are just a few of my favorite quotes. I do plan to add more... and when I do, I'll share them with you ;-)

And later today, I'll be having a second post with another cool project that I'm sure you're going to love... so stick around ;-)

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend!!

Today I want to share with you my last card for the series of Christmas cards that I'm donating to Hogar del Niño.

I wish I could've had the opportunity to make many more, but time and other duties made it impossible for me to continue doing this. But at least I did managed to make some and contribute to this good cause ;-)

Here's the finished card:

The stamps are from the newest Magnolia Christmas Collection 2011... they were all soooo pretty!! And instead of making the *masking technique* for these two stamps, I paper-pieced them and added 3D dots to make them *pop-up* from the card.

Sweet Christmas Dreams - Part II

I ran a lot of errands, but still managed to finish another card for this *Sweet Christmas edition*. I'm working *twice*, as I'm donating some of these cards to a special cause ;-)

Anyway, here's my finished card:

I colored Tilda with Distress Inks, using the *watering technique* (as I call it... I'm sure that my students will recall it too!) to make the edges *pop-up* ;-). And then... since I'm doubling my work, I kept it simple so I could finish both cards.

~SMASH-ing Thursday~

So with this SMASH-ing fever that's being going around...

and knowing me, that I *love* to try out different crafts ;-)

I *had* to give this a try ;-P

So here I am... with my very first SMASH-ing post.

I called it *SMASH-ing Thursday*, as my main idea is to *try* (<--read carefully!!) to post each Thursday something Smash Book related.

Donna Downey has *Inspiration Wednesdays* AND *Collage Monday*... Suzi Blu has *You Suck Monday*... the talented Waffle has *Instagram Monday*... so heck! Why can't I have a *SMASH-ing Thursday*?? LOL!

Anyway, here's my first post. And I started out using this Smash Book:

Don't ask me why! Maybe because I *loved* the color... or maybe because of it's texture ;-) The thing is that I fell in love with it!

Now, when you open it up, you'll see this page that I lightly decorated:

Just a few computer generated phrases and some paper strips. I also distressed the edges with Distress Ink "Walnut Stain".

And now the next pages. The real *beginning* of my Smash Book:

It's a page about myself :-D Nothing fancy here... just trying to be *me*...LOL!

I used color washes to make the background *pop-up*... distressed the edges with Walnut Stain... and added paper strips, trims, book pages, a doily, letter stickers, diecuts, and my own handwriting (which I don't like very much, but I guess that I'll have to deal with that!).

OK, so I guess that's all for today! I'll be back next Thursday with more ;-)

Sweet Christmas Dreams

Hi everyone,

Here's another card that I did using the new Magnolia Christmas Collection 2011...

The sentiment is also from this newest collection. I colored Tilda with Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Walnut Stain, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye, Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick, Weathered Wood, Spiced Marmalade, Old Paper), and decorated her wings with Stickles "Star Dust". All papers are from Echo Park Paper "Christmas Collection", and I used Nestabilities from Spellbinders for the oval and scallop oval shapes ;-) The border punch is from Martha Stewart and to add more dimension, I distressed all edges with Distress Ink "Walnut Stain" and did some machine stitching.

We are looking for some crafty, fun loving people to join our team and share your love for Tickled Pink Stamps. Want to know all the details? The when, what and how? Well then here we go.

TERM FOR JANUARY - JUNE

This term will be for 6 months starting January 2012.

Can you apply if you have been a guest, spotlight, design team member for Tickled Pink Stamps/Challenges or guest for the challenge side of things before? YES of course you can, we welcome all Tickled Pink Stamp fans to join in.

Do you have to be a cardmaker? NO if you are a scrapbooker that uses images in your scrapbooking you are MORE than welcome to apply.

Is this for Pinkette images as well? NO this will only apply to Lolita and Lad images.

Can you enter more than once? YES you are more than welcome to apply more than once with another card or creation.

WHAT YOU ARE REQUIRED AND WHAT YOU GET

Each month we have a release and you are required to take part in this. In all we ask that you make 4 cards or creations per month. You can make 2-3 for previews and take part in one challenge we are sponsoring and then advertise.

You are NOT required to take part in the challenge sides of things. There was a little confusion last time we had a call, some people thought you had to take part here and on the challenge, this is NOT the case. Sometimes the Pink Ladies do join in only if there is a challenge on the same day as a preview.

You will receive all stamps usually 6 via digital and 4 in rubber and then if or when we have a sentiments release you will always get that in rubber as well making it 5 in rubber some months.

HOW DO YOU APPLY

Applying is easy. While for the following you do NOT have to have a Tickled Pink Stamps card, creation or scrapbook layout it is preferred. SO all I am asking is that you link up below to the linky, -->here<--to either a favorite Tickled Pink Stamps card or creation you have made, can be an old post. TOMIC - Challenge #22

Hi everyone,

It's Monday... and that means that it is time for another challenge from TOMIC!!! Yesssss!!

Today's challenge is real cute... as all you have to do is prepare a basket.

I'm real proud of how mine turned out... and I couldn't wait to share it with you...

but finally here it is:

Lots of flowers, ha? LOL! I did the handle with seam binding by tying a knot to the ends. And hanged Tilda by using a tag and embroidery floss. Here's a close-up of that:

The sentiment is from Tickled Pink Stamps, which I stamped using Archival "Coffee" stamp pad.

WOW... a week has passed by and I've been working on so many things... all at the same time practically... that I haven't even noticed it!

And since I don't have any project to show you (*yet*)... and maybe out of habit... I had to post "something"... *anything*!!! LOL!

So here's a *sneak peek* of some WIP ("work-in-progress" as we say in my office) that some day... *fingers crossed here*... Today we start our 1st day of {Pink} Previews... and we have these lovely *Birthday Pinkettes* collection as during this month we'll be celebrating Tickled Pink Stamps 2nd year anniversary... yessss!!

Pink Ribbon Lil Lolita Lilith

And today's turn is for *Lil Lolita Lilith*...

I colored this cutie with Distress Inks (Black Soot, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick)... and I used papers from My Mind's Eye. Finally I added a paper doily from Nestabilities, seam binding, trims, a paper flower, dimensionals and did some machine stitching. The sentiment is also part of this release ;-)

Pink Ribbon Lil Pinkette Hope

Hi everyone,

Today's post is about *pink*... because Tickled Pink Stamps is joining in the cause on the *Breast Cancer Awareness Month*.

And they're releasing... not one... not two... but *three* gorgeous *Pink Ribbon* digi stamps!! Yessss!!!

They only cost $1 (AUS) and all the $$$ raised will be donated to this special cause... so please, help us reach this goal!

OK, now for today's release... let me present you to *Hope*:

All papers used in this card are from Echo Park Paper (Victoria Gardens Collection) and the digi stamp was colored with Copics. And hey... yes! This special release also includes matching *sentiments* to complement your cards... so make sure to check them out too! :-)

Mi Bautismo

FINALLYYYYY!!!

After so much waiting, I can show you the *Christening* invitation/keepsake that I've been talking about for quite a while now and that felt (at least to me) that it took like a hundred years to complete...LOL!

The thing is that I had to make 20 of these...

and since I work full-time (yeah, real life sucks sometimes...LOL!)...

and then have assignments as a DT from the different groups that I'm in...

I had to work on them in my spare time, which is practically *none* :-s

Anyway, today I can finally say that *I'm done with these* and that I'm *super proud* of how they turned out, considering that I had to work with a certain amount of supplies in order to stick to a budget :-s

But enough babbling... here's the finished product:

It's a *criss-cross* card. And since one of it's main purposes was to use it as an invitation, I created a tag that when you pull it out...

...it reveals the event's info ;-)

Now, the other thing was that people could use it as a keepsake too, so I made the pull-out tab from the card's inside so that it reveals the baby's pic and name...

and then people can use it as a hanging decoration.

Party Favor Idea

My local scrapbook club we did this *party favor* swap...

and one of the requirements was that you had to use a Magnolia stamp in it...

so I did these tiny *bird houses*...

Of course, they had *candy* in the inside ;-)

The sentiment is from Tickled Pink Stamps and there's a Tilda hanging by their side ;-)

Here's a close-up of my Tilda, which I colored with Distress Inks:

Please don't ask about the papers, because I honestly don't remember which ones that I used :-s

Anyway, they were so easy and so fun to make... and they sure make a nice party favor :-)

TOMIC - Challenge #17

Hi everyone,

It's time for another challenge!

TOMIC's challenge #17 is about a sketch + a color inspiration...

And here's my take on this challenge:

All papers that you see here are from Echo Park Paper, Baby Tilda was colored with Distress Inks (Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo, Aged Mahogany, Spun Sugar, Shabby Shutters, Weathered Wood). I also added Stickles (Star Dust) to her wings ;-) The scalloped oval shape is from Nestabilities, the flowers are from Magnolia as well as the sentiment, and the pink pearls are from Tickled Pink Stamps. Finally I added trims, seam binding, a tag and did a little of machine stitching to the card for more depth ;-)

Yeah, I know... It's too soon to be thinking of Christmas. But Tickled Pink Stamps is having this *Christmas Release*...

and since I already have them and they're *all too cute* to pass by, that I just simply couldn't resist to play them! ;-)

Anyhow, here's my card in full view:

Yeap, *simplicity* is my new name! But not for too long though ;-)

I colored Christina with Copics. It's such a breeze to color with them once in while ;-) And I used papers from Bo Bunny. I also added seam binding, paper flowers, pearls, and pipes (Magnolia). The tag is from Echo Park Paper.

Hi everyone,

Are you enjoying this release? Because I sure am! :-) I just love how vintage these stamps are. They are definitely a wonderful complement for this upcoming Christmas ;-)

And today's release is *Lil Victorian Christmas Lad Lestat*! Talk about long names, ha? LOL!

This is a *Christmas Tag*. They always come handy when you're decorating your home during Christmas... and they specially look great in a Christmas tree ;-)

Anyway, I colored this lad with Copics and I used papers from Echo Park Paper (including the sentiment). I also used cardstock from Bazzil Basics, trims, seam binding, dimensionals and machine stitching.

{Pink} Preview: Vintage Christmas

OMG!!! I'm soooo excited!!!

First of all... *Thank You* so much for all the wonderful comments that many of you have left me about my previous work, specially on the *mini album*. It's been so long since I scrapbooked and I never expected such a great response with this one... which of course makes sooooo happy!!! :-D

Secondly, I'm really excited to be sharing with you this new *release* from Tickled Pink Stamps. Of course I don't have to mention that it's *stinking cute*, as you already know that...LOL! But I will mention that we're celebrating *Christmas in September* ;-) And it's not any other Christmas theme... it is a very *Vintage Christmas* theme :-)

So here's one of my cards that I made for this release:

This cutie here is Ivy... and as you can see, I stayed out of my comfort zone and did not colored her. I don't know... I thought that it would be cool to grab the word *vintage* quite *literally*...LOL! And the card, of course, *easy peasy* ;-) With lots of stitching and distressing.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post today to share one of my latest creations while playing with my *art journal*...

A two-page mixed media spread using watercolors and paper...

This page was a pre-printed page from Prima Marketing, Inc. I colored it with watercolors and a paint brush. Then traced and cut out the black letters in black printed paper using a stencil and scissors, and adhered them to the page for a final touch. I think the black makes them to pop-out from the page, don't you think? ;-)

I'm slowly finishing up a few other projects, and I'll be adding them one by one once I finish them all. So stick around ok?

A Spooky Candy Box

Hi everyone,

YESSSSS... I'M ALIVE!!!

After that scary *Hurricane Irene* hit us, we lost electricity and water services... not to mention Internet access :-(

Thanks God it's all over now and we're going back to normal again.

But the good news is that, since I was out of the office, I had plenty of time to play around with my craft supplies :-D

I felt like a kid at Disneyland... trying out at almost *everything* before *reality* hit back again...LOL! So yes, I played with my art journal, made a few projects for the next Magnolia Ink, another one for TOMIC's blog, and of course a couple more for the most amazing Tickled Pink Stamps... YAY!!! But I'm drained though :-( I'll be hitting my Kindle real soon to take a break from this crafting craziness!

Anyway, for today's post I have this candy box in which I used a *spooky* creature from TPS: Lil Haunt Mummie Christina from the newest Spinks and Spooks Collection.

So cool ha?

And when you open up the box, here's what you'll get:

The sentiments are also from this Spinks and Spooks Collection.

BTW I ran out of chocolate, so I had to grab my kids' lunch snacks just to take the pics...LOL!

TOMIC - Challenge #12 & a Tutorial

Hi everyone,

Today's post is about a challenge, recycling and a tutorial ;-)

TOMIC's Challenge #12 is about *recycling*... make something new out of something old ;-)

So for this challenge I used a *paint can*...

which I decorated with papers, trims & ribbons, and with a Tilda of course ;-)

and turned it into this:

And if you ever wondered how to make one of these, then here's how:

*Please excuse the quality of my pics, as they were taken @ night*

First of all, here's what you'll need:

a paint can (clean and empty of course!)
patterned paper (I used two 12" x 12" pieces of paper, but you can use as many as you want)
ruler
paper trimmer
circle cutter
border punch
sticky strips, double sided tape or any strong glue
ribbons and/or trims
a Tilda (of course! LOL)
inks to color her (I used Distress Inks)
flowers and any other embellishment that you want
3D dots (dimensionals)

Now here's how it's done:

Step #1: Measure the paint can from top to bottom (X"-wide) and using your paper trimmer, cut a piece of patterned paper of that size, leaving its length at 12" (X" x 12"). (Eg. since I used a 12" x 12" patterned paper and my paint can measured 8 5/8" wide, I cut my paper 8 5/8" x 12".) (If your paint can is bigger (length) than 12", add more paper to cover up that empty space.)

Using the sticky strips, adhere that piece of paper to your can. It should look like this:

Step #2: Using your second piece of patterned paper, cut it at 2" x 12". Using the border punch, decorate its sides. I also distressed the edges ;-)

Now adhere it to the can, making sure to center it:

Step #3: With you trims and ribbons and using a strong adhesive, decorate as desired. I added a 3D look to the pink ribbon by ruffling it ;-)

Step #4: Now it's time to decorate the lid :-) Measure the lid from top to bottom--that would be the total measurement around it (radius) ;-)

And using your circle cutter and a piece of patterned paper, cut a circle of about that size. Then adhere it to the lid with sticky strips or a strong glue.

Decorate!

Step #5: Finish your paint can by coloring a Tilda and adding it to the finished can.

And that's it!! :-)

I hope that you're all doing well!

Today I want to share with you a couple of things...

First, my newest *Art Journal* page:

Almost *everything* that you see in here was done using Distress Inks (Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Broken China, Weathered Wood). I also used oil pastels, patterned papers (collage), heart stamps (from Stamping Up), and punched out butterflies (Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch), stencils, computer font, jute.

This page was inspired on one made by Donna Downey. I really like how *monochromatic* it looks ;-)

Secondly, I wanted to share that the newest Magnolia Ink Magazine *Chocolate Dreams* edition is out for sale.

And guess who's in it? ;-)

YAY... MEEEEE!!!

I can't believe it! I'm soooo happy about this one!! :-)

Hi everyone,

I hope that you're all doing well. The school year is starting already where I live, so things have been a liiiiiiiittle bit crazy lately ;-) But both of my sons are excited to go back to school, so I guess that's what really counts, right? :-)

Anyway, to lower my *back-to-school stress levels*...LOL I kept working on my *art journal*... so here's what I did recently:

"Todo lo puedo cuando confío en El" <-- translation: "I can do anything when I trust Him" (or "when I put my trust in Him").

This page is part of the 3 Hearts Workshop that I've been working on... the heart that I share with the world, to be precise... and yes, it has a religious meaning, as I TRULY BELIEVE IN GOD and I'm not afraid of sharing it with the world.

It is well said that we shouldn't talk, neither about politics, nor about religion, as there are many different beliefs and different points of view...

and I always try to live by this rule as I have *many~many* wonderful friends that I know that they have their own beliefs that are totally different from mine and that is so OK with me...

and it's not that I'm afraid *or ashamed* of speaking it out loud, but because I love them *so dearly* and part of that love is to accept them by *who they are*... the whole package, just as it was originally made by that same God ;-)

and not by how they look like, or by what they have, or by what they believe in...

and that same feeling and acceptance is given me in return, which I'm *deeply grateful*!!!

Don't know if you agree with me or not, but then again that's part of the acceptance that I'm talking about ;-)

Anyway, trusting in God is something that, no matter the religious beliefs, everybody does it...

and in my case, when I'm trying hard on something, He's the answer, my support, my biggest and my most loyal believer... and that's everything I need for all to happen! :-)

OK, I don't want to keep on rambling... *waffling* as my friend Kellie would say ;-) Just wanted to share a little bit of one of my 3 hearts ;-)

Here's my latest addition to my Art Journal...

I created this page inspired in Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday. So yeah, it is not a coincidence that they look similar ;-)

To make this page I used color washes, acrylic paints, oil pastels, stamps, stickers, and chipboard letters & heart.

And guess what? I was inspired enough to make a cover for my Art Journal...

It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it'll do...LOL!

I know that I've been MIA for some time now. I'm just taking a break from everything and making space for some *me* time ;-)

And some of the things that I've been doing for *me* recently is reading... I just *love* to read... but I guess that you already know that ;-)

Seriously, I've been having TONS of fun with these workshops. There are so many ideas and techniques that you can apply to almost anything that you make.

But instead of babbling about it, let me show you some of the things that I've made:

The Cover Page of my journal

For this page I used acrylic paints and oil pastels. OMG I'm soooo in loooove with those oil pastels... I don't know why I never used oil pastels before, because they are simply *amazing* for coloring.

And these are a few other pages that are inside:

(Won't be sharing much of this last one as it is a little private ;-)

I'm still learning new stuff and creating bits here and there just for the simple joy of creating... no DTs, no deadlines, no nothing! Simple joy and relaxing time!

TOMIC - Challenge #7 "Nautical"

We're starting another week... and with it, another challenge.

This week's challenge @ TOMIC is: Nautical. Make something *nautical* related, submit it to TOMIC's blog using Mr. Linky, and you could be our next winner... even better, our next *Guest DT*.

Now here's what I did for this challenge:

I've made a *criss-cross* card using *Pirate Tilda* as my main character ;-)

I colored her using Distress Inks (Scattered Straw, Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick, Broken China, Spun Sugar, and Weathered Wood for shadowing). Papers are from Crate Paper and I've distressed all edges, the scalloped oval and oval templates are from Spellbinders, the pink pearls are from Tickled Pink Stamps, the white pearls are from Prima Marketing, the sentiment is also from Tickled Pink Stamps, and the rest of the embellishments are: generic paper flowers, seam binding, trims, Stickles, 3D dots.

Shaker Card/Box Tutorial

Hi everyone,

Pink Lady Yani here! Today I'm going to show you how to create a shaker card/box. Here's what you'll need:

Diecut machine
Shaped templates (I’m using the Nestabilities’ scalloped oval and oval templates for this tutorial, but you can use any other templates)
Adhesive (a strong one)
3D dots
Transparency
Flakes, glitter, beads (or any element that you want to include inside the shaker card/box)
Cardstock
Stamping paper
Stamps
Stamping ink
Coloring supplies (Copics, Distress Inks, Prismacolors, etc.)

Note: For this tutorial, I’ll be using the largest scalloped oval template, the largest oval template, and the second largest oval template.

Procedure:

1. Align the largest scalloped oval template and the second largest oval template in your die cutting machine (see pic above) with the carstock you’ll use for the shaker card/box, and cut.

Your newly cut cardstock should look like this:

2. Now using the largest oval template, cut the transparency.

Your pieces should look like this:

3. Repeat Step 2 with the stamping paper.

4. Stamp your image in this newly cut paper and color it. Now you should have three cut pieces, which should look like this:

5. Adhere the transparency to the back of the scalloped cardstock with the strong adhesive. Let it dry completely.

6. Adhere 3D dots to the front of the stamped image/paper. Make sure to adhere them as close as possible, avoiding to leave any empty spaces; this will prevent the beads, flakes or glitter to fall out from the shaker card/box. Also DO NOT remove the backing of the 3D dots yet!

7. Fill in with beads, glitter, or flakes. Hint: I also used tiny Prima flowers to decorate ;-)

8. Now very carefully remove the backing of the 3D dots and adhere the scalloped cardstock to the stamped image with glitter.

AND YOU’RE DONE!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! :-)

If you’re using the shaker box in a card like me, make sure to use a strong adhesive so it holds up well to the card.

The rest of the embellishments: generic paper flowers, seam binding, trims, 3D dots, Distress Ink "Antique Linen" for the edges, machine stitching, and I also used my scalloped oval and oval templates from Spellbinders for the shaker box.

{Pink Preview} Lil Ivy

Hi everyone,

Before I start... *THANK YOU SO MUCH* for all your lovely comments about my Art Lab!!! Loved to read all of your suggestions, ideas, and funny happenings too :-)

Now, for today's post... here's my latest Magnolia card, but with Edwin as the main character ;-)

To make this card, I used different paper combinations like Prima Marketing, Webster's Pages, and My Mind's Eye.

Edwin was colored with Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Walnut Stain, Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo, Aged Mahogany, Broken China, Faded Jeans, Tea Dye, Pumice Stone, Fired Brick, Old Paper, Weathered Wood). And I also used Crackle Paint (Picket Fence) to distress the edges.

This card is also part of my entry for this week's challenge @ Magnolia Down Under Challenges.

And on a side note... this past Saturday was my Distress Inks Class @ Scrapper's Place.

There where many adorable ladies, some of which learned for the very first time how to color with DIs and some others practiced what they already knew...

(Sorry about the images... they were taken with my cellphone.)

This finished one is from my dear friend Maga...

It sure was an amazing experience to teach, to make new friends, to see old friends, and to spend some quality time with these talented gals :-D

Mi Art Lab

Los hombres también tienen la razón... ¡A VECES!

Resulta que desde que nos mudamos a esta casa, mi esposo se había adueñado de uno de los cuartos para convertirlo en "su santuario". Allí tenía todo su equipo: TV, computadora, cuadros, colecciones, etc. Mientras que yo me tuve que conformar con el comedor para realizar todas mis manualidades.

Con el pasar del tiempo, mi esposo comenzó a perder interés en su cuartito... mientras que yo me estaba cansando de trabajar en el comedor y tener que estar recogiendo cada vez que hacía algo, por aquello de mantener "el caché".

Así que un día le propuse a mi marido que mudara todas sus cosas para la sala... la cual casi nunca usábamos... para así yo poder mudar todos mis tereques al que una vez fuera su cuarto. Para mi sorpresa el hombre accedió y de inmediato nos pusimos a trabajar. El movió todas sus cosas y yo comenzé a decorar.

Pero ya de entrada tuve mi primer problema: ¿qué color escojo? Yo no quería un color que tuviesen todas las demás chicas (verde, rosa, azul turquesa, etc.). De más está decirles que pasé horas muertas buscando cartas de colores, tanto en las tiendas, como por Internet. Hasta que un día mi hijo mayor me pregunta que por qué no pintaba el cuarto de gris. Okeeeeyyyyy... ¡gris! Pero, por aquello de darle el margen de la duda, me puse a buscar combinaciones con gris y para mi sorpresa, encontré algunas que SI me gustaron. Así que "de gris se va". ¡Primer hombre que tiene la razón!

Segundo problema: la mesa de trabajo. Yo quería una BBB (Buena, Bonita y Barata). Y aquí salgo yo de nuevo a las tiendas a buscar una mesa que cumpliera con todos mis requisitos. ¿Y adivinen qué? ¡NO encontré ninguna... YAY! O estaban demasiado caras, o estaban hechas de material malo, o no combinaban con la decoración que tenía seleccionada. ¡Nooooo... si las mujeres no somos NADA de complicadas! ¡Qué va! En fin, cuando menos me lo esperaba, ahí la encontré. Cierto día que me encontraba de compras con mi esposo, estábamos "novelereando" por el pasillo de herramientas y artículos "masculinos"... y allí tenían una mesa de trabajo en "stainless steel". Entonces mi esposo me pregunta "¿qué te parece esta mesa para tu cuarto?" Aquí va mi segundo okeeeeyyyyy... ahora sí que éste perdió la chaveta. La cara mía tuvo que haber valido un millón, porque el hombre viró los ojos y comenzó a explicarme que él las armaba en su trabajo y que eran unas mesas muy buenas y muy resistentes, blah... blah... blah. No se si fue todo lo que me habló o si fue el hecho de que ya estaba cansada de buscar mesas sin éxito alguno, pero lo cierto fue que terminé comprándola.

- ¿Y cuando se le comienzen a marcar los dedos? Porque si te fijaste, es "stainless steel".
- ¡Pues la limpias!
- ¡Graciosito!

Pero, ¿saben qué? ¡No me arrepiento! Puedo derramar agua, pintura, pega, calentar objetos con el "heat gun", estampar perfectamente, etc. y sin tener que protegerla. Y cuando termino, simplemente le paso un paño y ¡listo! ¡Queda nueva otra vez! Así que, de nuevo, otro hombre que tuvo la razón.

OK, ya no las mareo más... aquí comienzo con el desfile de fotos:

Definitivamente que es un espacio bastante amplio... y puedo hacer y deshacer a mis anchas :-D

Ahora, comenzando a la izquierda:

La tan renombrada mesa de "stainless steel". Es alta, lo que me permite trabajar de pie (prefiero trabajar de esta manera)... y también es ancha, lo que me permite trabajar con varias cosas a la mano.

Por supuesto, tuve que volver a irme de compras para obtener decoración que fuese a la par con la cuestión del "stainless steel" ;-)

Y en una nota a parte, mi "Smash Book" (versión casera y a mi gusto...jiji)

Pero cuando termine algunos detalles del mismo, les comparto más ;-)

Continuando... en la parte central de la pared, algunas de mis creaciones:

En la parte de abajo, mis herramientas y esta paila con sellitos Magnolia:

Ahora, a mano derecha de mi mesa de trabajo está el carrito con gavetas:

Me gusta porque, aunque las gavetas se ven finitas, en realidad caben muchas cosas dentro de ellas.

Dies y moldes para cortar.

Gaveta para mis cosas de "mixed media".

Gaveta para mis sellos Tickled Pink Stamps (o las Lolitas). Tengo que buscar una mejor manera de guardar estos sellos... pero como son un poquito grandes, es difícil conseguir algo.

Papeles y más papeles en las restantes.

Luego más adelante un futón, el cual perteneció a mi marido, pero como no lo podía acomodar en la sala, pues lo heredé yo :-)

Creo que después de todo no es mala idea tenerlo. Ahí me puedo recostar y leer o contestar emails tranquilamente. Aaahhh sí... pero próximamente ya no será marrón, sino negro ;-)

Y como podrán notar, en el fondo los cuadros, que también heredé de mi marido. Aquí tuvo la suerte de que el marco era negro y caen perfectamente con la decoración principal de mi cuarto. A parte de que la mayoría son de colección de Disney... ¿y a quién no le gusta Disney? :-D Arribita, uno de mis cuadros de She Art.

En la próxima pared, mi sección de costura:

Ni modo... el $$$ no alcanzaba para otra mesa, así que me quedé con esta. A pesar de todo, es muy cómoda y sirve el propósito.

Algunos de mis ponchadores en una de las gavetas.

Y finalmente, en la última pared:

El area tecnológica... donde se encuentran la computadora, la impresora, iPhone (muy importante) y otros efectos. Sí, lo sé... tengo que rellenar esa pared con algo :-s

También tengo una silla para el area de costura y tecnológica, pero la pobre no está en condiciones de ser retratada... por eso no la ven. Pero sí, está ahí ;-)

Se preguntarán "¿eso es todo?" Pues no... tengo más cositas y materiales con los que trabajar, pero se encuentran todos aquí:

En "La Zona Prohibida"... ¡eeeeekkkkkkk!!!

Pero esos los acomodo después. Por ahora quiero disfrutar y divertirme un poco en mi nuevo cuartito, que gracias a que los hombres A VECES sí tienen la razón, he podido realizar este sueño que lo veía muuuuuyyyy lejano y que ahora es una realidad :-D

She Art #3 and TOMIC Challenge #3

Good day everybody!

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! I had a couple of birthdays to celebrate... my mom's and my husband's... plus the Father's Day celebration on Sunday... so yes, you can say that it was a *festive* weekend for me...LOL!

But now that I'm back to reality... pouting lips here :-(... let me share with you my latest She Art canvas:

This one's a small one... approx. 5" x 7" canvas... and I did it all using scrapbook papers (Glitz Design), watercolors, pens, rubber stamps (Tim Holtz), and a Sizzlit die (for the bird).

I'm really having a great time making these cuties. Like I said before, this is such a stress reliever, specially the *being messy* part...LOL! Also because they'll be part of the deco for my craft room... my *Art Lab* as I'm calling it ;-) Yes! After so much waiting, I finally have my own craft room. And even though it's almost finished, I still want to add a few decorations to the walls and also have a decent AND color coordinated chair... am I being too picky? LOL! Anyhow, once I'm done with these tiny details, I'll share some pics with you all ;-)

Hi everyone,

First of all... *thanks* all the support that you gave us at the launch of our new Magnolia challenge blog!!! The response was overwhelming and we're thrilled to continue creating for all of you :-)

Now, it's time for another *TOMIC Challenge*. Today's challenge is *color combo*... all you have to do is create something using the following color combination: white+pink+brown. And of course, it has to have a Magnolia stamp in it ;-)

Here's my take on the challenge:

*EVERYTHING* that you see in this card is from Magnolia, except for the pearls (which are from Basic Grey). Tilda is from the newest stamp collection: Butterfly Dreams... and I colored her with Distress Inks. I also used Crackle Paint and my Spellbinders for the doily and circle shapes.

She Art

Hi everyone,

Here's a little something that I've been practicing on lately...

After taking Christy Tomlinson's "She Art" workshop, I've been getting more and more interested in the *mixed media* world...

like I have all this free time, you know... (being *sarcastic* here!)...

so I'm adding up another thing to do! Oh well, I guess that's the way I am ;-)

Anyway, after practicing for some time now... I have finally something worth of showing ;-)

I'm using an *art journal* instead of a canvas. I don't know... for some reason I like it better that way!

Yeap, that's supposed to be me! Only that I'm skinnier though... but that was the closest that I would get... LOL!

To make this I used my watercolors, scrapbook papers, LOTS of stamps, my die cutting machine, pens... even my Copics had something to do in here ;-)

OK, I'll show you one more... it was one of my firsts, when I was trying out my hand at art journaling... but *promise not to laugh* ok? ;-)

Like I said, it was one of my firsts... and I know it's not perfect, but still it has something that makes it attractive... at least to me ;-) Maybe it's the way the colors contrast with each other.

Anyway, if you're looking for a stress reliever or want to put to work all those forgotten stamps hidden in your drawers or just simply love to get messy, this workshop is definitely for you!

{Pink} Preview: Christina

Today we're showcasing the gorgeous Christina...

How cute is she, ha? ;-) Aaannnddd the cool thing about her is that you can *match* her with -->Lil Lad Eric<--. Now we're talking about the perfect *dorky match* here...LOL!! Anyhow, this is a *must have*... as she fits perfectly in any theme ;-)

OK, about my card... I decided to make a shaped easel card using my scallop circle and circle templates from Spellbinders. Christina was colored with Copics... and the totally amazing sentiment is also from Tickled Pink Stamps :-)

Primera Comunión - Part II

So my mom is a Catechesis teacher... and during the course of this week she asked me if I could make a couple of First Communion ("Primera Comunión") cards for five of her students.

Of course, I couldn't say no! ;-) So here's what I did:

This Tilda is from the ~2010 Wedding Collection~. I thought it was the most convenient for a First Communion girl ;-)

Since I was in a little bit of a hurry, I colored her with Copics. I also used the oval and scallop oval templates from Spellbinders to fit her. Patterned paper is from Bo Bunny and I machine stitched it to the card. The pink pearls are from Tickled Pink Stamps, and the big pink paper flower is handmade using the Tim Holtz's Flower Die.

Here's how it looks on the inside:

For the inside, I used a Fiskars border punch and a cross punch, a white ribbon, and computer font "Gabriola" in MS Word.

Like I said, I had to make five of these cuties... and the celebration is tomorrow, so let's see if they like them ;-)

¡¡Muchas cosas ocurrieron esta semana que pasó!!

El 2do Aniversario de Scrapper's Place, en el Hotel Marriott de Aguadilla...

¡Fue un éxito total y rotundo!

Los salones súper cómodos y la asistencia fue completa...

Mi amiga Jessica tomó mi cámara prestada sin que yo me diera cuenta para retratarme en plena acción :-D

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted to share with you my latest Magnolia creation. This time I used one of those stinking cute *Magnolia Mini* stamp...

Michelle O. has been creating a couple of these lately... very beautiful cups by the way ;-)

So I HAD to give it a try. Also, you can find the tutorial on how to make your own cup -->here<--.

To make this cup, I used my ScorPal, papers are from October Afternoon, trims, seam binding, white pearls, paper flowers, my oval and scallop oval templates from Spellbinders, and colored Tilda with Distress Inks (Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Aged Mahogany, Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, Old Paper).

Oh... and the best part: Kisses from Hershey's :-D Which, I must say, I lasted them for at least an hour, so you can be proud of me...LOL!

{Pink} Preview: Victorian Lil Lad Lestat

Hi everyone,

Today we're starting another week... and with it a new {Pink} Preview...

A *Thank You* notecard/tag from this gorgeous lad Lestat.

Many of my fellow DT members like to color stamps in grayish tones, so I decided to give it a try myself. I colored him with Distress Ink "Weathered Wood". It's definitely a quick way to color your images and they still look wonderful in your projects ;-)

Now to make this card, I used a pre-made card from the newest Bo Bunny papers (Gabrielle collection to be specific). Flowers are from Petaloo... and the sentiment is from the newest Tickled Pink Stamps' collection *Victorian Sentiments*. Finally, I have added ribbons, 3D dots, and a rhinestone.

Primera Comunion

Hi everyone,

I hope that you're all having a lovely week :-)

I've been working on many things... ALL at the same time :-s Some are fun, but others are not... but still I won't complain. After all I like being busy ;-)

And one of those things is this box that I prepared for my niece's First Communion celebration...

For some reason this Tilda reminds me of her... she has brown and short hair... and is all together too cute...LOL!

I ran out of pink flowers, so I had to stick the white ones... I think they look good on it and create a color balance.

And of course, there'll be a small gift inside the box... but that's a surprise ;-)

My Very First "She Art Girl"

Hi everyone,

I hope that you all had a Happy Easter Day! We took the boys to the beach and to some boat ride... it definitely has its advantages to live surrounded by water ;-)

Also, I'm slowly adapting to my old routine... doing some household cleaning, running errands, and a little bit of shopping (of course!)... yes, you can say that I'm going back to normal :-)

And I wouldn't be in *normal mode* if I don't do anything *crafty* ;-)

So let me show you what I've been up to this past week:

Yes, I'm currently taking both workshops and let me tell you... I LOOOOOVE 'EM BOTH!!!!

Christy is so talented and her work is so cute and so easy to make, that it makes you want to fill your entire room with these cuties.

And Suzi... she's another talented gal and so funny. Definitely you don't want to miss her out ;-)

OK, so in between of one thing and another, I managed to finish my very first She Art Girl. YAY ME!!! LOL! Here she is:

I was supposed to use canvas, but instead I'm working on a art journal... at least until I feel confident enough to display my work in a wall ;-)

In case that you were wondering, this is *Mixed Media Art*. And what I like about it is that I can be *very* messy... and also I get to use different art mediums, which I already have at hand and were deep down buried inside a drawer...LOL! Like scrapbook papers, really old stamps, acrylic paints, rubons, and different things I found around the house for adding texture. It's definitely a stress reliever! And did I mention that you get to be *very messy*? ;-)

Right now I have so many ideas in my head... and once they're all pasted on paper, I'll show them to you. In the meantime, a Magnolia creation is coming up soon... so stick around! :-D

About my card... all papers are from October Afternoon, I colored Pippa with Copics (sorry, I don't remember the exact colors that I used), the circles were made with a Big Shot and Nestabilities, the tag is from Fiskars, and I also distressed and machine stitched all edges for a more vintage effect ;-)

{Pink} Preview: Faith

Hello everyone,

I know I've been MIA, but as many as you know, I work full-time at a CPA firm... and well, this is the time of the year (U.S. & P.R. speaking) that we work many extra hours dealing with people's taxes :-( And of course, my time right now is *very* limited and so is my crafting time :-(

The good news is that April 15th is coming up very soon and then I'll be able to craft some more ;-)

Anyway, I just couldn't miss the fun and make a card for TPS's new release...

It Feels Like Spring

It feels like Spring!

And what a better way to start the season than with "a gift from the heart" ;-)

Today's share is a Magnolia card with Edwin as its main character...

Such a handsome young man isn't he? ;-) And I also love the fact that he is carrying a flower... it's so romantic :-D

Now about my card... all papers and stamps are from Magnolia, the border punch is from Martha Stewart, rhynestones are from Basics, and the paper flowers are those generic ones I found at my local craft store, except for the blue one, which I handmade using my Sizzix ;-)

I colored Edwin with Distress Inks... and I also distressed the papers with white acrylic paint and machine stitching.

Finally, this card is competing in the following challenges: Friday Sketchers and Stamp Something.

{Pink} Preview: Lil Fox Sir Rupert

OMG! Isn't this month's release amazing?

The stamps are soooo gorgeous... and not to mention the sentiments... they're stinking cute :-D So now there's no excuse for not making a *boy* card, right? OK... they're still tuff to make... but at least we have a good variety to choose from...LOL!

Anyway, here's what I did for this release:

Not a card, but a *paper pocket/bag* ;-) And it has enough room to store this and some other things too:

This paper pocket/bag is from my own design...

And Sir Rupert was stamped in a pre-stamped white cardstock, which I cut to the size of a tag... covered it entirely with Antique Linen Distress Ink... then ripped a little and inked the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Finally added some flowers and ribbon and done!!

I'll probably make a tutorial on this paper pocket/bag, but unfortunately it won't be in the near future as I'm fully loaded with the tax season :-(

#1 - I hate snakes... lizards... actually, anything reptile. You can say that I'm "reptile-phobic"...LOL!

#3 - I can't live without wearing mascara. I know, it's a girl thing ;-)
#4 - I'm a bookworm. Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, etc. are my genres.
#5 - I love purses. Most women love shoes, but I'm a sucker for purses.
#6 - My favorite dish is spagettis & meat.

{Pink} Preview: Lil Lad Lestat

And it's time for another {Pink} Preview ;-)

But first let me share some good news....

I made the *Top 3* @ Lollipop Crafts!!!!! :-o

YAY! I'm really excited as I never thought I was going make it... there were so many great entries there. Anyway, I'm *happy~happy* :-D

OK... today I want you to meet a gorgeous fellow named Lestat...

Isn't he gorgeous? I just loooove that *bad boy* look ;-)

To make this card, I thought on trying something new... so instead of coloring him, I simply stamped the image on patterned paper... but before that, I applied a light brush of acrylic paint which served as a base and makes the image stand-out from the paper ;-) Then I did a lot of distressing with inks: Walnut Ink and Black Acrylic Paint. The stars and the sentiment are also from Tickled Pink Stamps. Finally, I added a heart which I cut using my Sizzix. And that's it!!

Feels Like Spring!

Hello everyone!

I've been MIA again! Tax season just started... and as you know, I hardly have *a life* during these days :-(

But still I managed to take some time off and craft a little ;-)

So today I want to show you a Magnolia card I did, which I also did for several challenges...

The challenges are... Cute Card Thursday *Signs of Spring*... Magnolia Down Under Challenges *Flower Power*... Wild Orchid Challenges *Anything Goes*... Lollipop Crafts *Think Spring*. It's been so long since I don't participate in a challenge as normal competitor... and not as a DT... that I completely forgot how exciting it was! :-D I only wish I had more time to do it more often.

Anyhow... about my card... this time I tried different colors to color Tilda's skin. I usually go with Distress Inks *Tattered Rose + Tea Dye*, but instead I used *Tattered Rose + Vintage Photo*. Loved the way it turned out... but man, it was scary! I really don't know how my fellow Magnolia DT members do it... they always go for the most eye-popping colors and then use them beautifully. Oh well... I better stop panicking and start practicing instead, right?

Hi ladies,

I hope that you're all having a nice week. I'm as always busy... but it's not your fault! LOL!

I'm also trying to make a balance between my *real* life and my *crafting* life, so that's why I'm not posting as much as I want to ;-)

Anyway, for today's post I have another bookmark to share...

I hope that I'm not boring you with these bookmarks. My previous one... I had to give it to a friend... she totally fell in love with it and well, I couldn't say no. So that left me with no bookmark for my reading addiction.

Yeah, yeah... I know... poor me... I had to make another one! LOL!

But you see... they are so handy and easy to make and they make such great gifts... not to mention that they look so pretty in books. :-)

The lovely stamp is Lilith... and you can have your own Lilith by clicking *here*. I colored her with Distress Inks (Black Soot, Weathered Wood, Tattered Rose, Tumbled Glass, Fired Brick). I also used the oval shape and scallop oval shape Nestabilities, ribbons, and acrylic shapes for decor.

It's A Small World - Part II

Good day everyone!

As promised, here's another Magnolia card... and again, using a Magnolia *mini* stamp ;-)

Isn't that indian soooo cute? :-)

I colored her with darker colors... Distress Inks Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo... at least that's not the skin color combination that I usually work with... I always use lighter colors Tattered Rose and Tea Dye for skin tones ;-) But still I liked the results... she looks like a real indian :-)

Now this is an easel card made with Nestabilities... and when you open it up, it looks like this:

The flowers are pre-made paper flowers that I found at my local craft store. And the sentiment is also from Magnolia.

I'm really enjoying working with these minis... as they are so easy to fit in cards and also very quick to prepare ;-) So if you have them, I'm sure you'll enjoy to work with them as well!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!!

It's a day filled with hugs... kisses... friendship... and C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E! Yummm... :-)
Yeap, my kind of day :-D

Now for today's post, I have a *Cute* layout to share with you...

This is my niece Verónica. Isn't she lovely? As many of you know, I only have boys... so I have to take advantage of every opportunity I get to make a *girly* layout. Sometimes it is frustrating to see so many pink and cute things in the market and not being able to buy any of those things... so like I said, I have to take advantage of every opportunity I can get to make this kind of layout ;-)

The page is canvas... I covered it entirely with Shimmerz Paint. Papers are from My Mind's Eye... flowers from Prima... pink pearls from Tickled Pink Stamps... and the yellow letters are from American Crafts. I also did a lot of distressing, used a scalloped punch for one of the borders, and cut out the clouds in white cardstock.

{Pink} Preview: Lil Fairy Kira

Well... what can I say? I simply *loved* this stamp! And the best part is that it has many uses: birthday theme, generic girl theme, thinking of you, love, etc.

This time our challenge was to use Kira with a birthday theme, so this is what I came up with :-)

I colored Kira with Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose, Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive, Tumbled Glass) and added Stickles to her wings... the sentiment is from Tickled Pink Stamps too... I made the paper flower using the Tim Holtz's Flower Template for Sizzix... the pink pearls are also from TPS... and the patterned paper is Lost & Found by My Mind's Eye. Finally did some machine stitching to all papers for a different look ;-)

To make this card, I used my Label Template Nestabilities by Spellbinders... and also used my Heart Punch by Fiskars... ribbons... patterned paper from the Dear Lizzy Collection by American Crafts... and the sentiment is also from TPS. Finally, I colored Emilio with my Copics.

It's A Small World!!

That's the name of one of the many attractions from Disney World (Orlando, FL) and it fits perfectly to Magnolia's newest stamps ;-)

They are small... and when I say *small*, it's definitely small... like 1" x 1" and 2" x 2".

The same Magnolia, but *mini* ;-)

So you can have an idea, here's my card using Nestabilities...

Like I said, I used the Label Template Nestabilities (Spellbinders) to make this card...

I colored my image with Distress Inks (Hair: Antique Linen, Vintage Photo; Skin: Tattered Rose, Tea Dye, Aged Mahogany; Dress: Spun Sugar, Window: Weathered Wood) and added Stickles (Star Dust) to her wings :-)

The paper flowers are from my local craft store.

And when you open it up, it looks like this...

Now here's what I did for this blog hop... which I'm also combining with this week's challenge at Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge blog.

Like my previous card, I also did this one 7" x 4" and also colored Cherrie with Distress Inks. I did the envelope with a Fiskars envelope template that I own... and of course, the flowers were made using my Sizzix and Distress Inks.
